Poem #5: Darling

            5 minutes before my final math test, and I was just so nervous so I decided to write a poem based on an idea I've kept in my notes app and finished it 12 days later which is June 12, 2023. Here ya go:)

Darling

If you're anything like me, you live in a house that is on fire.

It always has been, and it will always burn.

You have grown to use fire to hurt you because it fuels you, somehow.

To blaze your heart, to make it grow even more resilient

But all of that makes you think that the whole world is on fire too.

Believe me, darling, it's not.

If you're anything like me, you take your father as your arch-enemy.

The monster in a knight's clothes

The beast that stole your bones and wonders why can't you run?

The demon that throws you scorching sticks and stones, then questions all the scars on your body.

You loved him for who he was, but you despise him for what he has carved on your body and soul.

Of course, he has destroyed your heart and that taught you how to seal your heart with titanium.

But that stops you from opening the seal to the people who actually deserve it.

Darling, please try your best to not let his ghosts haunt you.

If you're anything like me, you sometimes doubt that life will get any better.

You feel as if your life is just a thick book of pathetic and sorrowful tragedy

An album of the blues, a rainbow that has lost its colors

A winter that will last for evermore

But please, Darling, I beg you

Never let the storm wash your memories of the summer days away. 

If you're anything like me, I'm sorry.

But Darling, this too shall pass.

Writing this is a catharsis for me. There's a chance that tomorrow, June 13, I'll read this poem in front of a few people. Wish me luck (⁠人⁠*⁠´⁠∀⁠｀⁠)⁠｡⁠*ﾟ
