Poem #6: A Friend In You

A few months ago, I strangely became close with one of my classmate. She's a popular kid, and the thing I adore the most from her is that how could she became so smart academically, yet so smart socially? Like...bruh, she's mastering every class in my school yet she could hang out with her friends every break time? I spent my break time doing my assignments or studying for next lesson yet I'm still a few steps behind her. She's so cool. 🤩

I wrote this poem when I'm in my mid-year break vacation in Bukittinggi (which I'll wrote about in another post later), in a beautiful afternoon where I saw some cool rocks in a shallow river and I immidiately think of her. I saw them and I was like "oh my god I gotta tell her these are so cute". God, I love her so much. 

The rocks I meant earlier. They look like they came from the outer space, aren't they? Huh. Maybe that's just me.

I Have a Friend in You

On a summer afternoon, the realization hit me. 

I have a friend in you. 

A friend, that become the first thing I think of every time I see something quirky or awesome. 

A friend, that peel off her masks for me and share our darkest, deepest truths we don't say to any other.

A friend, that text me in all caps when she got a "fashion emergency". 

A friend, that listens to my wildest dreams without laughing or giggling at it.

A friend, that is brave enough to walk through the bushes of thorns that they built around me for thousands of false reasons and discover the true me. 

A friend, that ran away with me when they said "run as fast as you can!". 

A friend, a real one.

I smiled widely that afternoon. Because hey, it's so nice to have a friend.
