Poem #9: "Always an angel, never a god"

I'm back, readers! So, yesterday (Monday, December 11 2023, to be specific), during recess, I finally wrote a poem I've been dying to write since last week. Maybe it's because of how long I've been wanting to write so I already had a few lines in mind, maybe it's because so far this is the most raw poem I've ever wrote, or maybe it's both, but I personally love this one more than anything I've ever wrote. This is also the longest poem I've ever wrote. So...yeah, hope you guys feel the same about this. And btw, I wrote this while listening to the song "Not Strong Enough" by the amazing boygenius, and it felt AWESOME AND THERAPEUTIC. Maybe you'll want to listen to it too while reading this. Anyway, here ya go!

"Always an angel, never a god"

"Always an angel, never a god"
They say as they wear the saying
As if it's a permanent scar they should regret
For the rest of their lives

But oh, damn!
We're an angel!

We listen to our favorite silly playlists everyday
And make one for each mood we're feeling

We grip the bathroom sink as tight as possible
Whispering the words we deeply wish someone would say to us

We gaze up dreamily into the starry night sky
And suddenly we feel whole

We build the tallest wall to guard our heart
Scared to let someone make another damage or see how it was already damaged

We dance around the kitchen
The gentle, warm sunlight breaking through the window to hug our figure

We weep and grief because of what it was
Every time we dream about what it could be

We giggle and kick our feet to the ground
As the lovers in our favorite books rejoined

We look for people that we could call "home"
Just to watch them leave, and we grief, again

We hum to the melody of our favorite songs
Our heels stomping the floor to the beat of the drums

We dance our way into the hell
Just because the gates looks as promising as heaven

We write poetries and journals
And capture every tears and triumphs in there

And I wish you knew
How the gods with their immortal life
Gaze up at our glorious, mortal life

So now, angels
It's time to brush the dust off your wings
And put on your best dress
For it is time for us
To finally soar through the bright blue sky
And live

Freely
Joyously
Tragically
But most importantly

Passionately

So, how was it? I hope you love it as much as I do. And also, a little sneak peek about the next post: in a few days, I'm gonna go to Bandung, a city in West Java and stay there for two days and one night, and I think there's gonna be a lot that I could write about. Probably just going around, sightseeing some of the icons of that city, but mostly going around and trying a lot of food. So yeah, I'll see you soon, reader!

P.S. Pls feel free to interact in the comments!

All the love, -R-
